Brussels, 04/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - Now that the summer break is over, the European institutions will have to deal with the many conciliation procedures in the transport sector, concerning dossiers on the creation of the single European sky, liberalisation of port services, compensation for airline passengers and the ecopoints system (for further details on the differences of opinion between the European Parliament and the Council, see EUROPE of 16 July, p.16, and of 4 July, pp 10 and 11). The dates scheduled- which may yet change- are:
European single sky: an initial informal trialogue is to be held on 8 September. The Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) will prepare Council's position this Friday. The start of the conciliation procedure is planned for 7 October.
Port services: the conciliation procedure is due to start on 9 September. He first formal trialogue is to take place between 15 and 26 September, and the first meeting of the conciliation committee is scheduled for 30 September.
Passenger compensation: An initial informal trialogue is listed for 23 September in Strasbourg, and the conciliation procedure is due to open on 7 October.
Ecopoints: No date has been set for this dossier, pending the Council's position at second reading. This may be adopted by the Transport Council of 9 and 10 October.
