Belgium violates several journalists' right to freedom of expression and privacy

Strasbourg, 15/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a ruling in Strasbourg, on 15 July, the European Court of Human Rights unanimously ruled that Belgium was in breach of Articles 10 (freedom of expression) and 8 (respect of privacy) under the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR) when it carried out searches on 23 June 1995 on the professional premises and in the homes of journalists.
