GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/ecofin council

15/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Ministers of Economy and Finance of the Member States of the EU on Tuesday adopted an opinion on the stability programme of the Netherlands, which drew its inspiration mostly from the Commission's comments (EUROPE of 25 July 2003, p.9). The Council believes that "extra measures could be necessary to ensure a budgetary situation close to balance or surplus can be maintained for the medium term".
