07/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - Addressing the European Parliament last week, the Italian prime minister said he would be holding a Middle East peace conference in Sicily (in the town of Erice, see EUROPE of 3 July, p.4), while former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres, touring Tuscany, is reported in Italian newspaper La Repubblica as saying that Florence would be “the natural choice” for such a conference.
