16/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised, using the accelerated procedure, two operations in the banking sector. Firstly, the takeover of Spanish bank Banco Zaragozano by Barclays Bank SA, the Spanish subsidiary of the Barclays Group; and secondly, the acquisition by ING Groep (Netherlands) of Entrium Direct Bankers AG (Germany).
