Commission initiates infringement procedure against Italy for discriminatory treatment of foreign language assistants at six universities

Brussels, 09/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has issued a reasoned opinion in accordance with Article 228 of the EC Treaty for non-compliance by Italy with the European Court of Justice ruling of 26 June 2001 concerning discriminatory treatment in relation to the recognition of the acquired rights of the linguistic associates (former foreign-language assistants, the so-called "Lettori") at six Italian universities (Milan, Pisa, La Sapienza in Rome, Palermo, the Eastern...
