Luxembourg, 25/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - According to estimates for February 2003, published on 24 April by Eurostat, the Euro zone had an external trade surplus of EUR 5.2 bn with the rest of the world, compared to a surplus of 7.0 bn in February 2002. The revised January 2003 balance was -0.9 bn, compared with a surplus of 1.0 bn in January 2002. In February 2003, exports and imports, seasonally adjusted, increased by 0.7% and 0.3% respectively compared to January 2003. The first estimate for February 2003 extra-EU15 trade was a 2.9 bn euro deficit, compared with -1.5 bn in February 2002. In January 2003, the revised balance was -8.7 bn, against -7.2 bn in January 2002. In February 2003, exports and imports, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 1.1% and 0.2% respectively compared to January 2003.
