Brussels, 03/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - the European Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society, Erkki Liikanen, will be in Moscow on Friday to discuss policy initiatives and co-operation with Russia concerning the "framework conditions" for business and investment, industry, telecommunications, and the information society. He will meet, among others, Industry Minister Ilya Klebanov, Communications Minister Leonid Reiman, and Duma representatives. Together with co-Presidents of the EU-Russia Industrialists' Round Table (IRT), Mr Chubais (CEO of RAO-UES, a unified Russian energy production system) and Mr Vuoria (Executive Chairman of Fortum), he will discuss prospects for the next IRT plenary conference in the autumn. The EU-Russia Industrialists' Round Table is a business-driven process, which aims to become a permanent forum for business people to present joint recommendations to the European Commission and the Russian government on opportunities open to businesses, investment conditions in Russia, and the promotion of industrial co-operation. During his visit, Mr Liikanen will also meet representatives of European industrialists based in Russia, and will take part in the Conference on Information Security.
