Reasoned opinion to United Kingdom for non-application of Euratom treaty on radioactive waste

Brussels, 03/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission decided to send a reasoned opinion to the United Kingdom authorities for authorising the disposal of radioactive waste from the Devonport Dockyards Ltd (DML) nuclear plant. The Commission believes that the UK failed to implement the notification provisions and the justification principle of the Euratom Treaty.
