Brussels, 01/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - US Secretary of State Colin Powell is to be in Brussels this week, Thursday, following meetings in Ankara. During his lightening visit, Mr Powell is expected to meet (at the NATO Headquarters , the EU Troika, consisting of the President of the Council, George Papandreou, High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten, before meeting with the NATO Council. It is not clear at this stage if there will be a meeting at the NATO Headquarters between the EU and NATO Foreign Ministers or ministers of foreign affairs. Richard Boucher, State Department Spokesman, indicated that meetings would essentially focus on post-war Iraq and the role each party play. On Monday, Colin Powell explained that , ""I want to give them an update on Operation Iraqi Freedom (the US invasion) and begin conversations about our hopes for the Iraqi people … how we can all work together to provide a better life for them and help them rebuild their country after decades of devastation by the Hussein regime" .
