24/03/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Quaker Council for European Affairs has called on the European Convention to recognise that "conflict prevention must be a central goal of the EU". remember the goals of the founders of the Union, say the Quakers to the members of the Convention, considering that, "today more than ever, the EU must give the example, using its unique experience in war and peace to promote multilateral co-operation as a mans for building peace". The Quaker Council for European Affairs was founded in 1979 to promote, in the European context, the values of the "Religious Society of Friends"", created in England in 1648.
