19/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - While talks on the settlement of the Cypriot problem are to resume shortly before the buffer date of 28 February, Turkey has shown its mistrust toward the newly elected president of the Cypriot Republic. The new president, Tassos Papadopopulos, "carries with him heavy political baggage, including an EOKA identity", the spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Minister said on Wednesday (Reuters).
