19/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - The World Health Organisation has stated in its 2002 report that "health levels" in Europe are "among the highest in the world", but that the gulf between eastern and western Europe is widening. The WHO notes in particular the "breathtaking drop in the figures" in the former USSR, affirming that "life expectancy in a state of good health" is on average 70 in western Europe, and only 50.3 for mean and 60.6 for women in Russia.
