Council to hold tough debate on adjusting Stability Pact within framework of preparations for Spring Summit, and adopt agreement on energy taxation

Brussels, 14/02/2003 (Agence Europe) - During Tuesday's Ecofin Council in Brussels under the presidency of Nikos Christodoulakis, a large part of the work will be devoted to preparation of the Spring European Council. The debate looks as though it will be tough-going regarding the new instruments for coordinating budgetary policies proposed in November by the Commission.
