Brussels, 31/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission should adopt, on the initiative of Commissioner David Byrne a draft regulation aiming to improve the effectiveness of official checks on products for human consumption and animal foodstuffs. Sanctions are foreseen when Community provisions are violated. This proposal is among many initiatives foreseen in the White Paper in Food Safety published in 1999.
