Brussels, 29/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - At the session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels on 22 January, the Greek Minister of Development, Akis Tsochatzopoulos recalled the priorities of the Greek Presidency of the EU and the importance for the Presidency of the role of civil society, and, thus, its co-operation with the EESC. The minister announced that, in collaboration with the EESC, the Greek Economic and Social Committee was organising a conference in Thessaloniki on 14 and 15 March on "Consumers and Enlargement", that, moreover, will mark the "European Consumers Day". The chair of the Committee's workers' group, Mario Sepi called for more financial resources to succeed with enlargement, as well as a review of the Stability Pact to ensure more growth. His counterpart for the employers' group, Regaldo Giacomo, hoped that the Lisbon Strategy would really become operational at the Spring Summit in Brussels on 21 March. As for the chair of the various interests group, Anne-Marie Sigmund, she spoke in favour of including a "European Charter of cultural values" in the new Constitutional Treaty.
