Brussels, 07/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised Red Electrica Espanola and CVC Capital Partners Group to take joint control of the high voltage electricity transmission network of Spain's Iberdrola. Red Electrica is specialised in the transmission of electricity and is in charge of the operation of the electricity system in Spain. CVC Capital Partners, for its part, is a British company active in the provision of investment and management advice to investment funds. The Commission's analysis showed that the operation would not give rise to any anti-competitive effects either in the electricity transmission activity or regarding potential competition in the market for new transmission facilities, nor the electricity generation or distribution market.
