Council decisions end December 2002

Brussels, 06/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - After a Council session just before Christmas, a session that lasted a whole week, the Fisheries Ministers adopted a long series of decisions that were published in the Official Journals L 351 of 28 December, L 356 and L 358 of 31 December 2002.

The OJ gave: - the regulation fixing the guide prices for the 2003 harvesting year; - the new rules concerning deep sea fish stocks and the TACs and quotas adopted for benthic species; - the amounts of certain aid schemes (private storage, carry-over aid, etc.) - the regulation fixing TACs and quotas for 2003; - structural actions arrangements in the fishing sector; - the regulation establishing a Community emergency measure for the scrapping of fishing vessels; - the new regulation on the conservation and sustainable management of fishing resources to replace, on 1 January 2003, that dating from 1992; - and the regulation establishing specific measures to compensate the Spanish fisheries, shellfish industry and aquaculture, affected by the oil spills from the Prestige.
