Brussels, 06/01/2003 (Agence Europe) - Like the Greek Presidency that, on behalf of the European Union, condemned the double suicide bombing in Tel Aviv on Sunday, and claimed by the "Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Brigade", different European Union personalities have addressed their condolences to the victims of the families. These attacks left 18 dead and over one hundred injured.
In a press release, European Parliament President Pat Cox deplores these new atrocities and calls on all parties involved in the conflict to put aside this "deadly logic" and work together to stop the violence and work for peace. "No cause can justify the blind killing of innocents. Acts of terror such as the ones we have witnessed in Tel Aviv are intolerable and must stop. They undermine any possible efforts towards dialogue and peace", observes the High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, "unreservedly" condemning these two attacks. "Palestinian terrorists set back the cause of Palestinian statehood and democracy every time they commit one of these outrages", says Commissioner Chris Patten, adding: "The violence will only end when both sides make a sincere commitment to the peace process" set out by most of the international community.
