Brussels, 16/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has taken the following competition decisions:
Referring the buy-up of Brico by Leroy Merlin to the French, Spanish and Portuguese competition authorities;
Authorising the sale of Denmark's Obel's technical electrical and ventilation business by Norway's Bravida;
Authorising the purchase of Germany's Edscha (automobile parts) by US investment company Carlyle.
Using the simplified procedure, the Commission authorised the creation of a life insurance joint venture between Aegon (the Netherlands) and La Mondiale (France); and the 100% buy-up of Switzerland's Alcopor Knauf Holding AG by France's Knauf La Rhénane, in the sound insulation business.
