On 20 November 2002, at a plenary session in Strasbourg during which parliamentarians from candidate countries took the floor for the very first time, the European Parliament adopted a resolution by the Chairman of its Committee on Foreign Affairs, Elmar Brok, on the next major EU enlargement (see EUROPE of 20 November, pages 4 to 6, and 21 November, pages 3 and 4).
