Brussels, 18/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the British company Compass (collective catering and concession food services) to acquire the Italian company Onama, which is active in the same sector but also in cleaning and waste management. The Commission geared its analysis to the German and Italian collective catering markets that will be the most affected by the operation. It noted that, on these markets, there were many powerful and dynamic rivals such as Sodexho, Gemeaz Cuisin (Accor group), Camst, Ristochef (Elior group), in Italy, and Pedus, Aramark, Apetito and K&S Catering in Germany. It therefore concluded that the acquisition would not cause any problems of competition and cleared the operation.
