Brussels, 18/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - In a press release issued on Friday, the Committee of Agricultural Organisations in the EU (COPA) and the General Committee of Agricultural Cooperatives in the EEC (COGECA) call on the Council to endorse and rapidly implement the results of WTO negotiations on the opening of cereal import quotas. Although quotas are not the "desired solution chosen by producers and their cooperatives", they are today the only solution proposed to control low price imports from certain third countries of the Black Sea, the organisations write. COPA and COGECA consider "the worst thing would be to do nothing" and to remain in the current situation.
