Brussels, 15/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - On 15 November, the European Commission decided to grant EUR 122 million to Morocco under the National Financing Plan for 2002. This decision was taken on the basis of Morocco's Strategy Document and the aims of the MEDA programme. EUR 61 million will go to the Business Support Programme, which aims to develop and modernise the private sector, strengthen the Moroccan economy and improve its competitiveness in the prospect of establishing an EU/Morocco free trade area in the run up to 2012. EUR 50 million will be devoted to training in the tourism, textiles and new information and communication technologies sectors. EUR 6 million will be for improving the working conditions of women, mainly of those working in the Argan oil production sector. Finally, 5 million in technical assistance will help Morocco to implement the association agreement with the EU.
