Brussels, 07/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - On 8 and 9 October, the annual assembly of consumer organisations will be debating the following topics in Brussels: - what benefits does the single market provide consumers? - information and transparency: what role and what rights for consumer organisations; - helping consumers impose their rights and lodge complaints; - how to ensure better representation of consumer interests throughout the Union; - financial services and consumers: what priorities, future and present? David Byrne, Commissioner for Consumer Protection, will speak at the inauguration of the assembly. A seminar with countries candidates for accession, devoted to services of a general interest, preceded this annual meeting.
