27/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - Representatives of immigrants without papers gave a press conference on Wednesday on the fringe of the European Parliament plenary session, with the support of French MEPs Fodé Sylla and Sylviane Ainardi (GUE/NGL), Adeline Hazan (PES) and Alima Boumediene-Thiery (Greens/EFA). While considering that the problems of migrants without legal documents is a European problem, Aminata Diouf, member of the "Coordination nationale des sans-papiers", declared that "in France, we have been lied to as we were told that the regularisation of those without papers was a European issue (…). Now that we know that each State can regularise the situation of those without papers as it chooses, we shall not be duped by hypocritical talk". She launched an appeal to MEPs: "don't let Sarkozy charter flight us home".
