26/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Parliament approved the Council's common position relating to the installation and use of speed retarders on certain categories of motor vehicles in the Community. At the request of the Parliament's Transport Committee, which followed the recommendation by its rapporteur, Greek MEP Konstantinos Hatzidakis (EPP-ED), the Parliament approved the common position without amendments, and the parliamentary committee felt that the Council had taken on board the most significant amendments introduced by the Parliament at first reading (see EUROPE of 18 September, p.16).
