26/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - The High Representative for CFSP, Javier Solana, welcomed the vote in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe that on Tuesday voted through a large majority in favour of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia joining the pan-European organisation. This vote, stresses Solana in a statement, confirms that "so as to avoid delays in the process, it is essential that in Belgrade and Podgorica additional efforts are made to swiftly complete the work on the Constitutional Charter". Rapid adoption of the Charter "will also allow for further progress to be made towards integration in the EU", Mr. Solana points out.
