Paris, 24/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - Back from his official visit to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, on 163 and 17 June, the chair of the WEU Assembly, Klaus Buehler declared that the parliamentary elections, scheduled for 15 September would be a cornerstone of the democratic process and a degree of stability to which the country has reached. He urged the Council of Europe and he OSCE to considerably increase the number of international observers sent to the ground to monitor the elections. Representatives of all political parties wanted this massive presence, that should not be less than 1,200 monitors for the duration of the electoral process.
