24/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the European Commission is expected to adopt a new regulation on managing aid to Latin America and Asia. The new element of the reform of external Community aid, begun with the creation of Europeaid, this regulation is destined to reduce time in allocating aid and imroving management of loans. It will also introduce a "sunset clause", whereby after a certain time, loans that are not paid out will be re-affected. According to the Europeaid 2001 report, EUR 542 million was committed in 2000 - and EUR365 million paid out in Latin America, EUR 100 and EUR 750 for Asia respectively.
