Heads of State and government have first quite lively exchange of views on Council reform - Immigration: search for compromise on sanctions - Rumours on a new report on October summit - ESDP: more hopeful about solving Greek problem before end of month

Seville, 21/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Council of Seville began its work around Midday with a discussion on immigration and asylum, but a compromise on the contraversial issue of sanctions against "non-co-operative" countries of origin is not exptected to be sorted out until Saturday during the adoption of conclusions (see will be returning to this issue in our special edition on Sudnay).

During this first working day, there were rumours that the special Summit on 25-26 October...
