18/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament adopted without change the reports by Paolo Barolozzi (EPP, Italy) and Willi Rothley (PES, Germany), inviting the Member States to sign and ratify, in the interest of the European Community, two conventions on the compensation of victims of pollution; 1) the 1996 international convention on the responsibility and compensation of damage linked to the maritime transport of harmful and potentially dangerous substances (HNS Convention); 2) the 2001 international convention on civil liability for damage due to pollution from ship holds (Bunker Oil Convention).
