Brussels, 18/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has cleared the proposed takeover of ComPair, a company belonging to British Ivensys operating in the gas and compressed air systems sector, by the venture capital company Alchemy, registered in the Channel Islands and specialised in leveraged and management buy-outs and buy-ins. The Commission noted that Alchemy does not currently control any compressor manufacturer, so that there is no overlap of activities. Alchemy does, however, have control over several companies that use compressors for the manufacture of their products. The Commission therefore carried out an investigation but came to the conclusion that there is no competition problem at this level. It therefore cleared the operation.
