14/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The President-in-Office of the JHA Council, Marino Ray, stipulated that the Joint Committee, meeting Thursday afternoon with Iceland and Norway, had: - studied France's application of the Schengen acquis; - marked its approval for a negotiating brief with Switzerland for its accession to the Schengen Information System (SIS) and Eurodac; - adopted draft conclusions on the new functions of the SIS and the United Kingdom and Ireland's participation in the SIS. Like the JHA Council, the Joint Council discussed the plan relating t the management of the EU's external borders and adopted a paper on combating violence against women and a guide of good practices.
