Brussels, 24/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - Following the agreement concluded on 8 April in the Conciliation Committee, the EU Council of Ministers definitively adopted on 22 May the directive concerning the minimum prescriptions for health and safety regarding the exposure of workers to risks linked to vibrations. This directive sets minimum prescriptions, which provides Member States with the possibility of maintaining or adopting stricter provisions, especially stricter values for daily doses triggering the measure or daily limits to vibrations. Scheduled to become law in three years time following its publication in the Official Journal, implementation of the directive cannot involve a regression in relation to the situation that exists in each Member State.
