Brussels, 24/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has authorised the creation of a joint venture in the reinsurance sector. The founding members of the undertaking are Swiss Re and Munich Re, in association with the advisory firm, Accenture, and the technology company, Internet Capital Group. Some dozen other reinsurers and 50 insurance firms and insurance brokers will be taking part. Called "inreon", the new company is a platform for on-line inter-company negotiation on reinsurance which will allow insurers and brokers to obtain reinsurance offers for covering major risks such as property damage and natural disasters and to conclude on-line reinsurance contracts, thus providing them with an effective tool for requesting and comparing prices.
