Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres in Berlin - Common Franco-German approach to Convention

Berlin, 17/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The new French European Affairs Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres met the German Secretary of State for European Affairs, Christoph Zöpel, in Berlin on 17 May, and the German Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Günter Pleuger to go over major EU issues, including the European Council in Seville, explains a press release, adding that Donnedieu de Vabres and the two German ministers foscussed on the catalyst role of the France and Germany duo for the full extent of the EU project, following in the lines of the statements by foreign ministers, and also Fischer and Villepin. Donnedieu de Vabres, Zöpel and Pleuger highlighted the need to have a common Franco-German approach with regard to the European Convention's work and hailed the prospect of enlargement in line with the schedule, a pledge of the unity of Europe which has been divided for too long.
