Conference on impact of new chemicals policy

Brussels, 17/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - In Brussels on 21 May, Enterprise and Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen and Environment Commissioner Margot Wallström will be opening a conference to discuss the potential business impact of the new chemicals policy sketched out in the European Commission White Paper. 300 people representing industry, NGOs, workers, EU Member States and non-EU countries will attend the one-day conference. The Commission's aim in organising the event is to consult stakeholders and gather information to help it finalise its proposal to implement the White Paper. (The White Paper "Strategy for a Future Chemicals Policy" was a major topic on the agenda of the meeting of Chancellor Schröder and various European Commissioners with President Prodi.)
