Luxembourg, 08/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The president of the Court of First Instance rejects the request to suspend the regulation that extends the freeze on assets, a measure decided against the Taliban of Afghanistan, to a number of Swedish citizens. The regulation remains in application, states a press release from the Court on the Abdirisak Aden case. President Bo Versterdorf rejects the application for the adoption of interim measures made by Messrs Aden Ali and Yusuf, Swedish citizens of Somali origin, and Al Barakaat International Foundation, a non-profit-making association, whose names had been added to the list of frozen assets by a regulation dated 12 November 2001. The president of the Court of First Instance considers conditions for obtaining interim measures are not met. There is no emergency, as the claimants have suffered no financial loss or moral wrong (for the substance of the case, see EUROPE of 21 February, p.13).
