Nicosia, 08/05/2002 (Agence Europe) - The President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, has been in Cyprus since 8 May on a three-day working visit as part of his tour of the accession candidate countries. During his stay, Pat Cox will meet not only the Cypriot President Glafcos Clerides (and the President of the House of Representatives Demetris Christofias) but also Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash. He will have a meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto and will deliver an address on the Future of Europe at an event organised by the House of Representatives and the University of Cyprus (Cyprus, like the other candidate countries, is represented on the European Convention).
