Chairman Giscard d'Estaing to present report on state of progress of work at New York University

Brussels, 29/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Chairman of the European Convention, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, is to close, on 13 May, the series of seminars on "Europe and its Future" organised by the University of New York (NYU). He will take stock of the state of progress of the Convention's work. He will be taking the rostrum after Bill Clinton, Antonio Guterres, Giuliano Amato, and Willy Claes (who will be giving his address on Tuesday). The seminar organised by the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice at the NYU, brings together speakers who are yesterday and today's guardians of the European idea and of the ideals of Europe, it is stated in an NYU press release. The aim is to contribute to the "grand débat" on the future of Europe and thereby also to contribute to the intellectual aspect of European integration. A collection will be published by the Oxford University Press or the Cambridge University Press (For further information: NYU School of Law, United States. Tel.: (212) 992 89 14. Fax: (212) 995 4343.
