Adoption of mandate for negotiating legal and extradition co-operation agreement with USA

Luxembourg, 26/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - It was with "great satisfaction" that the Acting President of the Justice Council, Angel Acebes, announced on Friday that Member States has just approved the mandate for negotiating a legal agreement on criminal proceeings with the USA. The negotiating position of the European Union now being finalised in this long confidential document, the Presidency will now be able to begin negotiations with the USA. The issue will be tackled at the EU/USA Summit...
