It reached a political agreement on Europol participat8ion in joint investigating teams and co-operation for the protection of international football matches, and approved the Argo programme for co-operation in matters of asylum and immigration. All diplomats were confident in the adoption, Friday morning, of the negotiating brief for a legal co-operation agreement in criminal issues with the United States. Each recognised the difficulty of the question of the extradition of nationals. British sources recalled that Washington's interest in an agreement with the EU resided precisely in this issue (see EUROPE of 17 April, p.9).
