Brussels, 16/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - Bayer appeared optimistic on the eve of the decision of the Commission on the acquisition of Aventis Cropscience, a division of the agri-chemical Aventis company, at the end of a detailed four month investigation. Manfred Schneider a director at the German company said to the press that he was pleased with the results of the interviews with the Commission (Reuters on Monday in Frankfurt). Bayer has made a number of commitments to the Commission concerning the dominant position it would have occupied on the insecticide market (see EUROPE 9 April page 11).
