Commission reviews growth forecasts slightly upwards

Brussels, 11/04/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to statistics published on Thursday by Commissioner Pedro Solbes' department, economic forecasts for the first quarter of 2002 range of 0.2% to 0.5% for the percentage growth in GDP compared with the previous quarter. This forecast is slightly higher than the previous forecasts of growth of between 0.1% and 0.4% for the first quarter and between 0.4% and 0.7% for the second (see EUROPE of 14 March, p.15).
