28/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On the fringes of the EP's March plenary session in Strasbourg in the presence of the President of the Socialist group, Enrique Baron, the launch of the Pikolo Memories in Motion association, headed by Jean Samuel, who was deported to Auschwitz alongside the Italian writer and chemist Primo Levi. In his moving Auschwitz memoirs "Se questo è un uomo", Levi writes about the young man from Alsace nicknamed Pikolo who courageously and tenaciously led a personal and secret combat against Auschwitz and death. Jean Samuel now lives in Strasbourg, where he is writing about that period of his life in the death camp, explains a press release.
