Brussels, 28/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday without debate the Council of the EU adopted a regulation establishing the new protocol to the EU/Gabon fishing agreement for 31 December 2001 to 2 December 2005. Fishing rights for Community ships have been allocated as follows: tuna seiners (20 for France and 18 for Spain); trawlers (900 tonnes GRT a month on average for Spain and 300 GRT for Greece). The EU will pay Gabon EUR 1.262 million a year in financial compensation.
