Brussels, 28/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to new research published by DG Environment, agricultural recycling (spreading or land application) is the best way of disposing of sewage sludge from the point of view of the environment and the economy. The research demonstrates that the cost of spreading solid sewage, estimated at between EUR 10 and 160 a tonne, is much lower than other options, like incineration (EUR 260 to 350 a tonne).
