Brussels, 26/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Greens/ALE will be organising a public hearing on 3 April on minimum guarantees in criminal proceedings. Françoise Tulkens, a judge at the European court of Human rights, Caroline Morgan, from the European Commission and several MEPs intend to participate at the debate, which for the Greens, will encourage the European Commission to introduce instruments that go beyond the instruments currently in force. At the beginning of February, the Commission published a consultation document on the adoption of minimum common standards for the accused in criminal proceedings (see EUROPE 8 February page 13).
