Commission welcomes adoption of regulation on ".eu" Internet top-level domain

Brussels, 26/03/2002 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission welcomed the adoption by Monday's Telecommunications Council of the regulation on the implementation of the .eu Internet Top-Level Domain (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.8). According to European Commissioner Erkki Liikanen, this will create a true European identity in cyberspace for Internet users in Europe, as Internet users may, for the very first time, be able to have pan-European domain names and e-mail addresses.
